Metro Manila now on moderate risk

Octa Research says “ NCR (National Capital Region) and all 17 constituent LGUs were

classified as moderate risk using our metrics”. Through their research, experts say that all 17 cities and municipalities in the virus epicenter.


Metro Manila are classified as ‘moderate risk’ according to them.

In the report that was released on October 14th, on a Thursday, shows that the reproduction number in capital regions have been lessened to 0.6 and the seven-day average cases has also decreased to 1,884, 30% lower than the previous week.


For everyone’s information, Reproduction or R is the number of people that are infected with the COVID-19 can infect. Experts recommend that the goal is to keep R below 1 to prevent the number of cases rising up.


Octa says that the NCR (National Capital Region) and all 17 constituents LGU’s were classified as ‘moderate risk’ according to their metrics.

At the time of this report, the government’s national pandemic task force loosened some

restrictions in the Philippine capital, putting it under Alert Level 3 October 16 to 31 to Alert Level 4.


The Octa Research Group has been accused at congressional hearings of what lawmakers described as being “alarmist” in predicting outbreaks because back in the day government data analysts have been more conservative with their research conclusions.


The Department of Health (DOH) have confirmed that the volume of COVID-19 cases has surely decreased and this was backed up by the decrease of hospital admissions. However, three regions are still at ‘high-risk’.
