Cinemas are allowed to re-open as Metro Manila will be placed under a less restrictive Alert Level 3 starting on Saturday, October 16.

On Wednesday, October 13, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the recommendation to lower the alert level.

In line with the updated guidelines released by the IATF, cinemas are only allowed to operate at a maximum of 30% indoor capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity.

All staff and workers must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as minimum health protocols should be strictly followed.

Cinemas have been shut down in the Philippines since the pandemic began in March 2020. The industry lost a total of P21 billion in revenues since then, according to The Cinema Exhibitor Association of the Philippines (CEAP).
